Present in Lithuania MP of Law and Justice Mariusz Błaszczak informed that 30 thousand zlotys (about 25 thousand litas) has been donated in behalf of  the Poles in Lithuania.

“The Law and Justice party decided to transfer the sum of 30 thousand zlotys in behalf of the Association of Poles in Lithuania” – the politician informed journalists in the J. Śniadecki Intermediate School in Šalčininkai.

The donated sum is voted to pay a fine of 43 thousand litas imposed on the warden of the local government of Šalčininkai district Bolesław Daszkiewicz who until 6th February, according to the court’s judgement, has to pay the fine for not removing bilingual placards – in Polish and in Lithuanian.

We maintain that we should support everyone who is in favour of the respect of ethnic minorities’ rights in every democratic and free country. As it functions in Poland, outside Lithuanian board, for instance in Puńsk, the names of locations and schools are bilingual. These are the European Union’s standards, which we apply in Poland. We assume that it has to be applied also in Lithuania” – said the Law and Justice club’s chairman.
