Almost 1000 first-grade pupils from Polish schools watched the “Cinderella” ballet in Vilnius Opera and Ballet Theatre. Thus, the third “Support for the first classes of Polish primary schools in Lithuania” project was inaugurated. It is organised by the Polish Embassy in Vilnius as a part of the Cooperation with the Polish Community Abroad Plan of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland for 2013.

As a part of this project, just like last year, the first-grade pupils have the opportunity to participate in many cultural events, such as a performance in the Vilnius Opera and Ballet Theatre, a trip to Multikino for a Polish-language film, a trip to Trakai or a Christmas party in The House of Polish Culture in Vilnius.

There is also another side to this project which includes workshops for teachers, buying classroom equipment, various classroom aids, books etc. The organizers make sure that schools receive what they really need by talking to the principals and teachers working in these schools beforehand. As it was last year, the needs of different schools are very varied, they include sports or musical equipment, computer hardware, but also office supplies.
