Elwiro Andriolli – the Italian painter  – fought (along with the others) in the Eišiškės guerrilla group” – told us the vice-mayor of Šalčininkai Region Andrzej Andruszkiewicz, who is the author of the monument honoring the insurgents project.

There will be two huge plinths at the base of the monument, decorated with the Lithuania’s and Poland’s national emblems – as a symbol of common history being the base of two contemporary countries. A bell will be part of the monument too, it is to remind our citizens about the heroic past of their ancestors, and to motivate them to working towards the future” – says Andrzej Andruszkiewicz.

The Eišiškės residents should always remember, in the Šalčininkai District Municipality vice-mayor opinion, that the city played a significant role throughout the Lithuanian history.
