In a  very few days first ring bell will start a new school year in Lithuania. Unfortunately in a scale of whole country to school will go 20 thousands students less than in a year 2011. For almost thousand of teachers it means retire or finding new job.

There are 1296 of public and 36 private schools in Lithuania. During this school year there are going to study 371 thousnads of kids and there are going to be employed 27 thousands of teachers. Since 2008 number of students at schools remitted by 100 thousands. Altought, there is hope because the number of preschoolers is growing with every year.

The good news is that the number of prescholers ig growing. During 2010- 2012 opened 30 new kindergardens  more of them are private. 85 thousnad of preschoolers are going to attend to kindergarden during this year. In 2008 there were almost 67 thousands.

Despite the fact of less students at school there is  lessen number of those who choose schools with polish language, the number of preschoolers is also bigger. This tendency is seems to be stable with every year in a region of Šalčininkai and Vilnus.

In Šalčininkai region on Monday to school will go 3565 of students, it is 105 less than in 2011. Eventghouh the number is less in some regions, this year will have more of freshmen than last year. The biggest number of freshmen is in schools with polish language  – 2011.
