Local information may soon be published also in the Polish language. Vilnius authorities have decided to publish official information about the city not only in Lithuanian.

Vilnius is in 60% inhabited by Lithuanians; however, 20% of the residents of the capital of Lithuania are of Polish origins. For this reason it was decided to publish information also in Polish, so that many people of different nationalities can learn about the activities of local government.

A statement issued by the capital government stresses that the Polish-Lithuanian publications will include information about the activities of Vilnius Municipality and labor departments of local government as well as thematic information, for example about cultural or sporting events.

Information in Polish is likely to be published mainly in press.
