Mieńkowska-Norkienė: Election campaigns in Lithuania are characterized by anti-Polish rhetoric

“For Lithuania – in comparison with Poland – the past year was quiet peaceful. I think the next year will be much more interesting from the political and sociological perspective” – says Renata Mieńkowska-Norkienė, political scientist and sociologist from the University of Warsaw and the Mykolas Romeris University of Vilnius.

“I expect some changes, perhaps also significant from the perspective of Polish-Lithuanian relations. Unfortunately, election campaigns in Lithuania are characterized by intensified anti-Polish rhetoric by different parties” – said the expert.

Mieńkowska-Norkienė also pointed out that the past year was difficult for the Polish minority in Lithuania, primarily due to the education-related issues.
