Russian Productions on Lithuanian TV Reduced

The Radio and Television Commission of Lithuania (RTCL) points out that Russian content loses its popularity on Lithuanian TV channels. According to the latest data, foreign productions in Lithuania are dominated by those from the US.

“Russian productions took the 2nd place in all categories of programs, however, the share of Russian content on Lithuanian TV decreased by more than 20 hours, i.e. in 2018, in a the week 95 hrs 33 min of Russian programs were broadcasted, compared with 75 hrs 6 min in 2019,” informs RTCL.

This year, Russian production was mainly broadcasted on the Lietuvos Ryto TV channel and BTV (respectively 40 hrs 31 min and 17 hrs 35 min).

According to RTCL, only Lietuvos television devoted over half of its broadcasting time to European productions. In other commercial TVs, e.g. BTV, LNK, TV6 and TV8, the time dedicated to European content has been reduced.
