Montvydaitė’s Second Term as Director of the Department of National Minorities

Ms. Vida Montvydaitė will head the Department of National Minorities to the Government of the Republic of Lithuania over the next four years. 

The government is scheduled to confirm her mandate on Wednesday. Ms. Montvydaitė has won the competition for the post and scored a victory over her two running mates

Ms. Montvydaitė’s second, four-year term will begin on 2nd July.

Ms. Montvydaitė previously ran the Consulate work. Moreover, from 2002 to 2009, she served as a Deputy Director of the Department of National Minorities and Lithuanians Living Abroad under the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. 

Until 2010, the Department worked under the Government and then was closed by the Liberal-Conservative coalition. Since 2010, responsibility for national minority issues was with a division of the Ministry of Culture.
