Grybauskaitė’s adviser: The issues of the Polish minority in Lithuania will not be crucial during the presidential meeting

The issue of the Polish minority in Lithuania will not be crucial during the meeting of Polish and Lithuanian presidents and it should not overshadow the strategic relations – says Nerijus Alexiejūnas, the adviser of President Dali Grybauskaitė.

Poland’s President Andrzej Duda will come to Lithuania to celebrate the 100th anniversary of our country’s independence. As Alexiejūnas says, the matters of the Polish minority may be raised during the presidents’ meeting, however, the greatest attention will be devoted to security issues in the region, energy and the economic cooperation.

As the president’s adviser informed, bilateral agreements will be signed during the meeting. The Office of the President has not reveal their content yet. According to Aleksiejūnas, the visit of President Duda, as well as the announced visit of Prime Minister Mariusz Morawiecki, prove that countries have common goals and expect to achieve specific results during the meeting.

The visit of Andrzej Duda in Vilnius will be the first bilateral meeting of presidents after five years of break.
