Sabatauskas: Unfortunately, not a single meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of Poland and Lithuania was held

“Personally, I do not think that we should leave the ruling coalition, but that was the party’s decision and it should be respected”, said Julius Sabatauskas, the chairman of the Parliamentary Law and Justice Committee.

Julius Sabatauskas, a guest of our Political Salon, added that until the last moment he hoped that some of the party veterans would not leave the party and there would be another solution. Sabatauskas agreed with the opinion that the Social Democrats are now undergoing a serious crisis and that the elections will show whether they turn out to be stronger and more trustworthy.

“Unfortunately, neither the Sejm of the current nor the previous term held a single meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of Poland and Lithuania”, said Julius Sabatauskas, who belongs to the Lithuanian delegation of the Assembly.

Simultaneously, the guest of our Political Salon expressed the hope that after Marshal Kuchcinski’s visit in Lithuania, the relations between the two countries have slightly warmed up. The celebration of the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the current Constitution of Lithuania are planned on 25th October. The members of parliament and senators from Poland are invited. I hope that their visit will be a breakthrough in our relations and then perhaps it will be possible to reactivate the work of the Parliamentary Assembly of both countries – said Julius Sabatauskas.
