Longin Komołowski re-elected as the leader of „Polish Community”

Last weekend, 6-7 February, in Dom Polonii (House of Polish Community Abroad) in Pułtusk, the 9th Plenary Convention of Delegates of “Polish Community” Association took place. During the meeting, Longin Komołowski has been re-elected as the leader of the association.

The convention was attended by about 130 people including representatives of Polish Community Abroad organisations from Sweden, the US, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania and Hungary.

During the meeting, issues of creating a bond between Poles worldwide and developing good relations with “Macierz Szkolna” (“School Matrix”) were discussed.

On the second day of the proceedings, Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, Stanisław Karczewski, gave a speech in which he stressed that the “Polish Community” Association is going to be Senate’s most important partner when it comes to matters of Polish community abroad.

On Sunday, in Basilica in Pułtusk, a Holy Mass was celebrated for the Polish community and Poles living abroad as well as for newly elected leaders of “Polish Community” Association.

„Polish Community” Association was established on the initiative of the Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Stelmachowski on 5 February 1990. The main goals of the Association are inspiring, supporting and conducting all-round cooperation with Polish community abroad and Poles from abroad with the Motherland in terms of: education, culture, religion, economy, tourism and sport.

„Polish Community” supports the associations consociating Poles in the West and organisations of Polish community abroad in the world (565 organisations from 54 countries). Currently, there are 23 substructures of “Polish Community” Association in Poland.
