The victims of Katyń massacre and Smoleńsk catastrophy commemorated in Jałówka

The board commemorating the victims of Katyń massacre and Smoleńsk catastrophy was unveiled and consecrated today in st. Jan Bosko high school in Jałówka, located in Vilnius area. Moreover, the small fragment of the plane was set in the commemorative plaque.

The principal, Zbigniew Czech, during the welcome said that both the Katy massacre and Smoleńsk catastrophy was very meaningful to everyone.

The students performed an artistic programme in order to remind all gathered people of Katyń massacre and Smoleńsk catastrophy. Then, the priests said mass on the school square in order to commemorate the victims. It was the priests from Vilnius districts and from Poland who said the mass. They were led by Tadeusz Jasiński from The Parish of Holly Ghost in Vilnius. Sagan, the priest, claimed that despite the fact that the passangers and representatives of Polish nation had had their own beliefs and that they had been arguing many times, they had aimed to be here, in Katyń, in order to commemorate fallen Polish officers.

The commemorative plaque was unveiled by the mayor of Vilnius district, Maria Rekść, with Sagan, the priest. The Mayor said that for her it was a priviledge to do so.

The small fragment of the plane was set in the commemorative plaque. It was accidentally found by the principal during the trip to the place of the catastrophy a few weeks later after it had taken place.

Moreover, the members of parliament from AWPL, Leonard Talmont and Jarosław Narkiewicz and the member of Polish Seym, Grzegorz Janik, took part in the ceremony.
