EAPL delegation visited Warsaw

While visiting Warsaw, the representatives of the EAPL met, among others, with the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Eugene Grzeszczak

With an official visit to Konstancina-Jeziorna near Warsaw went nearly 40-person delegation of representatives of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania, headed by the chairman Waldemar Tomaszewski. The delegation included the President of the parliamentary faction AWPL Rita Tamašunienė, members of  the RL Parliament of the EAPL Wanda Krawczonok and Leonard Talmont, mayors of Vilnius and Šalčininkai region Maria Rekść and Zdzislaw Palewicz, the vice-mayor of Trakai region Maria Pucz,  the representatives of the local administration and the young activists of EAPL.

EAPL delegation took part in the seminar titled “Debates on the media and communication through the mass media.” Except sharing valuable political experience, EAPL members also have the opportunity to discuss political current affairs and issues with friends from Warsaw.

While staying in Warsaw, the representatives of the EAPL met, among others, with the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Eugene Grzeszczak, the Deputy Foreign Minister Henryka Mościcka-Dendys and the chairman of the Commission for Emigration and Communication with Poles Abroad Andrew Person.

The Deputy Speaker Eugene Grzeszczak reminded us that celebrated this year anniversaries of joining NATO and the European Union and signing up the Treaty between Poland and Lithuania are very significant and show the way of democratic development of Poland and Lithuanian.  E. Grzeszczak expressed regret that despite the fact that Poland literally fulfilled all of the treaty’s obligations, Lithuania still delays their completion.

The vice-President of the Polish parliament also expressed the admiration for EAPL’s achievements in the Lithuanian political arena and wished luck in the forthcoming direct elections of mayors and councils of local governments.

The President of EAPL Waldemar Tomaszewski thanked the Ambassador and the President of the Foundation for Assistance to Poles in the East Janusz Skolimowski for the invitation to visit Konstancin-Jeziorna. He recalled numerous achievements of the Ambassador during his tenure in Lithuania, including the opening of Vilnius branch of the University of Białystok or concluding a transaction for the purchasing of the refinery in Maźeikiai by Polish oil company. He also thanked for the fact that he still cares for his compatriots, living in Lithuania.

On Sunday politicians from Vilnius took part in organized by the Sisters of the Angels “Angelic Fest”, which began with a mass in the City Park in Konstancin-Jeziorna. During the mass, people were praying for peace in the world, especially in a distressed  by conflict Ukraine and gave the donation  for humanitarian aid to children from this country
