Radio ‘Znad Wilii’. 22 years together

Ewelina Mokrzecka

During 22 years of existence the Radio ‘Znad Wilii’ became one of the most famous and recognizable Polish media brands, which was founded by Poles in Lithuania. Due to the diligence and honesty of the employees this radio is well-know not only in Lithuania, but also abroad.

In 1992, a few years after achieving the independence the first signal of the Radio ‘Znad Wilii’ was put out, after what it became wanted and regular quest in Polish houses. In the beginning we were working on distributing Polish culture and music. And we are still faithful to this as in our playlists dominate Polish songs. Being a modern and European radio we remember about the newest works of Western musicians and singers. Looking back at so many years of our activity we understand that the road we had chosen is right and the best evidence of this are for sure statistics.  An average week of our work possesses more than 80 thousand musicians.

With complete understanding that the future belongs to the Internet a year ago we started off an informational portal zw.lt where you can quickly and easily find information about the most significant events in Lithuania and in the world.

It is possible to listen to our radio online on our website. Therefore it is not an intemperate statement that the Radio ‘Znad Wilii’ gets to the remotest parts of the world.

However, the Radio ‘Znad Wilii’ is not just music and entertainment it is also a buoyant informational service. News is broadcast 7 days per week. By listening to our radio a consumer will get the whole spectrum of political and social life in Lithuania.

As we are the Polish radio we have a strong connection with our native country and inform consumers about the most important events in Poland.

‘Głos Wileńszczyzny’ (‘The Voice of Wileńszczyzna’) daily inform about ups and downs of Poles living in Vilnius District Municipality (rejon wileński), Trakai District Municipality (rejon trocki), ŠalčininkaiDistrict Municipality (rejon solecznicki), ŠvenčionysDistrict Municipality (rejon święciański).

In ‘Salon Polityczny’ (‘Political Salon’) frequent guests are those who make daily decisions on our lives. Lithuanian politicians always emphasize that our radio is one of the best ways of informing Poles in Lithuania.

We also inform about current economic events and cultural initiatives. This year we offer also news about Donelaitis, Słowacki and Kraszewski. Aficionados of films get information about the newest works of Polish cinematographers every week.

Recently, popular became the journalistic program ‘Szósty dzień tygodnia’ (‘The sixth day of the week’), where well-known politicians and journalists comment on the most vivid events of the week in the country and abroad.

We also remember about our young listeners and have projects devoted to them: ‘Szkoła w plecaku’ (‘School in rucksack’) and ‘Radiożercy’ (‘Radio oracles’).

We live in the reality of free market therefore it is worth saying a few words about our sponsors. We value our close cooperation with PZU and LOTOS. Thanks to them our program can become more interesting and entertaining. We are really glad to work with our long-term partner Polskie Radio (Polish radio). The cooperation based on exchanging information and journalist schooling is invaluable.

Among our partners are the government of Vilnius District Municipality, the government of ŠalčininkaiDistrict Municipality, Polish Film Institute (Polski Instytut Sztuki Filmowej), Polish Institute in Vilnius (Instytut Polski w Wilnie).

We are extremely grateful to our consumer for being confide in us. We promise that we will not rest on our laurels and will do everything to offer much more exciting, vivid and interesting things!
