Polish school from Trakai District Municipality awarded for international cooperation

The Senieji Trakai Andžejus Stelmachovskis Lower Secondary School was awarded by the Education Exchanges Support Foundation for its participation in international projects. The school is, therefore, considered to be the best from among 300 schools in Lithuania. Every year, the Education Exchanges Support Foundation organizes an event during which it awards initiators and participants of the best international projects: Comenius, Grundtvig, Leonardo da Vinci, Erasmus, European Study Visit.

There were 300 Lithuanian schools which took part in Comenius, the project of partner school’s, in 2011-2013. Projects of the Senieji Trakai Andžejus Stelmachovskis Lower Secondary School were regarded as the example of the best and having top quality. The school was awarded with a statuette and a diploma.

As the deputy manager of the Senieji Trakai Andžejus Stelmachovskis Lower Secondary School, Alina Sobolewska said, the last two years were very successful for the school. It realized two international projects at the same time. One of them, the Comenius Project “Join our Eco-Europe, enjoy our territory!

” was realized together with Spain, Cyprus, Romania, Greece, Italy and Turkey (a project coordinator: Lithuanian language teacher Irena Stefanowicz). The second one, Lithuanian- Turkish, “Cultural bridge between Nevsehir and Trakai” was coordinated by English language teacher: Edita Rumbutė. There were different topics of projects, one was connected with ecology and entrepreneurship, the second – learning about cultures, but they both had mutual goals. “This is cooperation, exchange of experience, learning from each other, and moreover – the possibility to learn foreign languages” – said A. Sobolewska.
The school got 34 thousand Euros to realize these projects. Students and teacher had the opportunity to visit partner countries, they were in Turkey twice. Senieji Trakai was a host to guests coming from 5 countries.
The Senieji Trakai Andžejus Stelmachovskis Lower Secondary School has great experience in international cooperation. In 2007-2009 the school realized a project of partner exchange within the Comenius programme between Bulgaria, Netherlands and France. The school has also extensive connections in Poland. According to the director of the Senieji Trakai Andžejus Stelmachovskis Lower Secondary School, the award of the Education Exchanges Support Foundation is a tribute to the school’s achievements and an encouragement to take up another challenges.
