We vote for the multicultural Lithuania!

Zbigniew Maciejewski

Zbigniew Maciejewski, a former translator and a correspondent of the only Polish newspaper in Lithuania, the headmaster of the junior high named after Rafał Kalinowski in Nemėžis, a councillor of the self- government in Vilnius,  the president of the Committee of Culture, Education and Sport. Very famous poet, singer and a founder and a long- standing chairman of the Vilnius Society of Charity. Competent, honest and with a sense of humour.

He candidates from the EAPL and in the first- past- the- post constituency in the Vilnius district of Šeškinė.

The novelization of the Education Law caused a lot of confusion especially among the ethnic minorities’ schools. What is more, across the country the pedagogues are not pleased with the actions carried out by the Ministry of Education: underpaid teachers, the so- called ‘pupil’s basket’ guaranteeing that only big schools will remain in Lithuania, constantly changing the syllabus and introducing the university fees.

It is a  national- prehistoric capitalism, madame, a national- prehistoric one. We propose to give up the pupil’s basket, stop treating the pupils as if they were a  cargo and we vote for the multicultural Lithuania.

To meet the ordinary citizen demands- this is one of the postulates of the EAPL. What are the social demands that have to be taken care of?

First of all, we have to take care of the most experienced people: the lonely pensioners, the large families, the single- parent families; to take care of the people who hardly make ends meet. I think here not only about the material help, but also about other kinds.

Teenagers perceive Lithuania as a country with no prospects, ignoring the honest worker (a high rate of migration of the young and the educated is a proof). How to improve the economy of the country so that the youth would stay in Lithuania and the emigrants would come back?

The results of the long- lasting bolshevization, including the Soviet- Lithuanian nomenclature caused that power and money are viewed as the main aims of the human existence. The economy is not the first thing that needs to be changed- first of all, we need to change the thinking of the citizens, switch them to follow certain values, the Decalogue and the national dignity, patriotism.

You are an experienced person- you work every day with the multinational and multicultural environment. How to follow the Christian values without harming a person of other faith?
You have already answered this question- exactly, by following the Christian values.
