After Sunday incident at Rossa  cemetery a special statement of Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania  was published. The Party faults that a part of Lithuanian politics stir up social unrest on purpose

According to the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania statement “the latest opinions expressed by Gediminas Grina, the head of Department of Public Security and Arvydas Anuszauskas, the chairman of The Public Security Committee accusing minorities in Lithuania of disloyalty and groundlessly showing themselves as the “fifth column” in the State stir up social unrest and are attempts to confront people”.

A few weeks ago Gediminas Grina , the head of Department of Public Security (Valstybės saugumo departamentas (VSD)) published the report concerning the work of the Department. The report of VSD stated that there are attempts undertaken from abroad to stir up national, social and ideological conflicts with the help of political and social organizations in Lithuania. The report stated  as follows: “there are groups trying to take advantage of certain groups discontents by aiming to consolidate minorities and increasing their loyalty towards third parties as well as by hampering their integration with Lithuanian society.

According to Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania such opinions cause provocative behavior of radical groups. “Searching for enemies among minorities causes provocative behavior of radical groups what was manifested as acts of vandalism: profanation of Jan Bosko church in Vilnius and mausoleum of Mother and heart of the son tombstone at Rossa cementary”- announced the press office of Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania. The party appeals to keep calm and blames conservatives for the situation. “We appeal to keep calm and not to succumb to provocative bahaviors initiated by certain political groups” – announced the statement.

“It is mainly in the interest of Lithuanian nationalists, especially Conservative Party which as we can see, builds its electoral strategy on anti-Polish feeling. The situation makes its electorate better organised as the present government has not been succesful in economy so far. We do not have to succumb to this provocation, we should keep calm. It’s good that those paintings have been removed so quickly”- comments in “Nasz Dziennik” by Waldemar Tomaszewski.

Today (19th of June) the mass meeting against vandalism is going to take place at Rossa cemetery, near the Jozef Pilsudski mausoleum. During the mass meeting “Ave Maria” song will be performed by Audronė Sharp.
